I was scammed on my Discord and got locked out

Posted by Justinandrew1984 - July 17th, 2024

Yesterday I accidently gave in to a scam that claimed I broke the rules on Discord, and got locked out of my main discord when I gave in, so I made a new one called "justinandrew5884" (plz see it) and am trying to rebuild it. one more thing that bothers me is my new account keeps asking me if I'm a bot (is that possible?) I hate it. anyway, see ya there

Pardon me for asking, but: Is the Discord support so abysmal that you wouldn't even 'try' to get your original account back? O_O

you think I should file a complaint about it?

I am "this" close at making a whole series of jokes at your expense. But I have a lot of self-discipline.

Honestly: I would suggest that you talk to the people in your offline life about your online life. Find out what's considered "normal" and learn about how sites and services on the internet operate - and to which ends.

And I would also suggest that you don't try to appear older than you actually are. I can see how you would be an easy target for scams and suggesting there's money associated with your online accounts will just increase the number of attempts...

If you are worried about getting scammed again (which you _should_ be), buy and read 'The Art of Deception' by Kevin Mitnick. It's essentially a book on self-defense against social engineering:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Art_of_Deception
I read it 'once' over a decade ago and I still get "chances" to apply what I learned from that book several times a year (in 'actual' real life).
